I'm doing research on this and hopefully by the end of summer I'll have it done. I want to do this right the first time and not cut corners without building the bottom end. If I do that then, do I need to get another crankshaft? I just had the timing belt and water pump replaced about a month ago so would I need to replace it with a GS-R waterpump and timing belt? I just want to know more about it.

Last edited: Dec 21, I have an LS Vtec setup. I turboed mine though. What kind of information were you looking for? You'll know if its Vtec waterpump cause the Vtec waterpumps is 22 tooth as supposed to the 19 tooth LS waterpump.

You cannot use the B16 timing belt since the B16 is a shorter timing belt. You can put on the block girdle, but it'll require some fabrication to make it fit. You'll end up spending more money than you'd like, but yes, you can add it if you want. As for the oil squirters, you add them too, but again it requires more fabrication, just use a Vtec oil pump make sure its new though or an aftermarket oil pump, and you'll be good.

As for the rods and bearings, you can use the stock rods, but if you are planning on revving the car up in the high rpm range, then you definitely want to change the rod bolts to some ARP ones. The stock LS rod bolts are 8mm as supposed to the 9mm Vtec rod bolts. Remember the LS wasnt meant to rev up that high. Another thing only if you want to do this is that the crankshaft is weighted.

You can have the LS crankshaft counter weighted and balanced. I do not have the top plastic timing belt cover that originally came on the B16 block. I do have the top and bottom covers that came on my B18B1. Obviously the bottom still fits because it bolts to the B18B1 Block. The top cover no longer fits as it was designed to fit an LS head.

Now here is the part of the equation I don't know. In other words I want to keep a big f'ing rock from dropping in and saying hello to my timing belt and destroying my motor. As a bonus it would be nice to still see the cam gears via a clear plastic piece or something.

Thanks Please ignore the sarcasm if your replying and you know what the heck a timing belt cover is Oh, forgot to mention that I have already cut the valve cover lip off the edge to expose the cam gears, so I know a stock cover for a b16 if it can be used , would have to be modified at the top with a bolted on piece of plexiglass or something.
